Shalimar the Clown Part Duex

Throughout the second half of this novel, the reader is allowed a glimpse into the thoughts and emotions behind the main character’s actions.  This is a remarkable opportunity for deeper character analysis.  In regards to development and depth of character personality, this section outlines the transition from one state into another as the dynamic character Shalimar progresses throughout the novel.  By following Shalimar as he continues down the road of vengeance, anger, malice and rage, one may be led to view him in only those terms.   A reader could easily misperceive Shalimar as a man of pure and raw impulse with no driving force or higher reasoning behind his actions.  However, this is simply not the case.  The immense depth, the multitude of layers and various aspects of Shalimar are far too many to ever be seen from one simply glance.  Luckily, the second half of this novel shows several glimpses into Shalimar’s lengthy labyrinth of a myriad like mind and paradox of a personality.
